For detailed installation instructions, refer to the Imagenation Installation Guide, located in the Documents\Image\Install_Guide folder. --------------- *2 New features --------------- The following are some of the features and enhancements that were added to Imagenation for Windows in Release 8.3. - Support has been added for Unicode characters in Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents. For more information on new features, refer to the Imagenation Help. ---------- *3 Formats ---------- Enhanced PDF support is available when you purchase the optional PDF Add-on. Updates to the Add-on include support for the PDF 1.7 format (generated in Acrobat 8.0). When PDF files are loaded through the PDF Add-on, you can now save them as Spicer Document - SMF format files. When the PDF Add-on is installed, you can save Spicer markups, made in PDF files using the markup tools, as PDF data. These markups can be viewed in Imagenation, Adobe Acrobat, or Adobe Reader. Support has been added for: - Microsoft Word 2010 - Microsoft Excel 2007 - Microsoft Excel 2010 - SolidWorks 2008 - AutoCAD 2009 - AutoCAD 2010 - AutoCAD 2011 - AutoCAD 2012 - Inventor 2008 - DWF 7.3 Note: Supported file formats are listed in the FORMAT.HTML file. Choose Start -> All Programs -> OpenText -> Imagenation 8.30 -> Imagenation 8.30 Formats File. ------------------ *4 License Manager ------------------ If you have the License Manager installed, and you are upgrading to Imagenation 8.3, then you should also upgrade the License Manager. Note: BEFORE upgrading, we strongly recommend you back up your License file (imglm.lf). If the LM is running as a Windows service, the setup program will temporarily stop the License Manager during the install. If the LM is running as an application, you must stop it before upgrading the LM, and restart it when you are finished. For more information, refer to the LM Getting Started Guide (LMGetting_Started.pdf) in the folder \Documents\ImgLM\ on the Imagenation CD. --------------- *5 Known issues --------------- - There is a known limitation with video cards that do not support DirectX and Direct3D 9.0c. The Direct3D API from Microsoft is designed to support rendering 3D objects, but has limited support for 2D images. DirectX is used for Inventor files. - If the Sysprep utility was used when deploying computers running Windows 2000, XP, or Vista, then error messages may be generated that say "Can't start OLE Subsystem" or "Access is denied." A possible workaround for this issue is to delete the Usrclass.dat file from all user profiles.
